Sten Gustaf Herbert Palmgren, 79, of Tuscumbia, died March 1, 2017. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, March 5, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at the LaGrange College Site.
Sten was a native of Stockholm, Sweden. He was a retired Dean of Staffanstorp College, past member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows in Sweden, and past president of the LaGrange Living Historical Society promoting tourism to North Alabama. He also had a great love of music and played in a brass band in his younger years.
Sten was preceded in death by his parents, Gustaf and Maria Palmgren.
He is survived by his wife, Sheila Howard Palmgren; sons, Michael, Thomas, Frederic, and Joachim Palmgren; sister, Susanne Serebo; and grandchildren, My, Robin, Mimi, Cajsa, Ellen, Lowe, and Gustav Palmgren, Sanna Nilsson, Elliot Fredson, Mimi and Rasmus Larsson.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Colbert County Animal Shelter, PAWS, or HASRA.
