Stella Kathryn Ables Jarnigan, age 81, of Cherokee, died Monday, February 18, 2013. Her family will receive friends Wednesday, 12-2 at Harris Chapel Baptist Church with funeral service following in the church sanctuary. Jeff Davis, Jack Bailey and Chuck Bradford will officiate and burial will be in Harris Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Jarnigan was a Colbert County native and a member of Harris Chapel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Riley and Velma Ables and eleven brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-four years, Hollis Dean Jarnigan; sons, Larry Jarnigan and wife Charlotte, Benny Jarnigan, Barry Jarnigan and wife Renee; grandchildren, Chris Jarnigan, Dan Jarnigan, Amelia Jarnigan, Anna Grace Jarnigan and four great grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Chris Jarnigan, Dan Jarnigan, Curtis Wallace, Roger Lard, Roy Dean Woodard, Henry Tunks, Shelby Sockwell and Larry Pounders.
Honorary Pallbearer is Eugene Wallace.
The Jarnigan family expresses special thanks to the staff of Cypress Cove Nursing Home and to Amedisys Hospice.
