Stefania Kozieradzka Powers – Obituary

Funeral service for Stefania Kozieradzka Powers, 89, of Decatur, will be Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at noon at St. Ann’s Annunciation of the Lord Catholic Church. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Mrs. Powers died on Sunday, May 5, 2013, at her residence. She was born on September 11, 1923, in Bachorzec, Poland to the late Egnaz Kozieradzki and Marie Hambel Kozieradzka. She grew up in Przemysl, Poland. She was a survivor of a German slave labor camp during World War II. Stefania came to the United States in 1947, and became a naturalized citizen in 1957. The loves of her life were her children and grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Marie Claudia Simon; and her husband, Bruce Powers.

She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Campbell (Gene) of Decatur; a sister, Sofie Buraczewska, Koszalin, Poland; her grandchildren, Michelle Campbell, Madison, Michael Campbell, Jonesborough Tennessee, Stephanie Simon, Decatur, and Richie Simon (Jamie), Decatur; and a son-in-law, Richard Simon, Decatur.
