Stanley Robert “Hoag” James, age 76 of Winchester, passed away on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at Southern Tennessee Regional Health Systems. He was born on December 27, 1944, in San Francisco, California to the late Howard and Ruth (Nipp) James. Before his retirement, Hoag had worked as a carpenter. A true hippie, he loved his tie-dye and people…Hoag loved everyone, and everyone loved him. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking projects. He will be remembered as the “best father, grandpa, and great-grandpa.” Hoag was a true friend to everyone. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Donald Shey James; and brothers, Norman James, and Howard James. He is survived by his loving daughter, Liza (Dan) Rattigan; grandchildren, Josh Thompson, and Nicole Thompson; great-grandchildren, Leo Clark, Brayla Thompson, Jozey Thompson, and Willow Thompson; sister, Margaret “Peanut” Hurst; nieces, Rebecca James, and Vikki James; best friend (brother), Rick Matthews; and beloved dog, Bobo.
