Stacey Kimberly Rogers of Florence, AL,  retired businesswoman and entrepreneur, died suddenly on May 21, 2019 at North Alabama Medical Center.    She was born in Dallas, TX, in 1953.  During her life, Stacey involved with several successful businesses in Virginia, Massachusetts, and Portsmouth, NH.   For four years, Stacey was the president of the New Hampshire Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals which is the oldest animal rights advocacy group in the nation.  During her tenure they built a new three million dollar shelter in Stratham, NH.  After selling her business last year she and her husband, Chris, decided to retire to Florence.  She recognized that Florence with its new shelter was a place where she could offer assistance.  Stacey wanted to live in a place that sheltered and cared for animals in need.   She was keenly interested in animal rescue.   As soon as she moved to Florence, she began to volunteer her services to the Florence Shelter.  Chris and Stacey even rescued a shelter dog that needed a home.  Stacey was truly an inspiration to the workers at the Florence Shelter in the short time she lived locally.

Stacey is survived by her husband of 30 years, Chris Rogers.  Also surviving are her niece, Lindsey, in Phoenix, AZ, and her stepmother, Barbara Hudgins of Norfolk, VA.
