Spices Smokehouse Wins Best Overall at Guntersville Wild Game Cook-Off

GUNTERSVILLE-Fired Louisiana Redfish topped with Crawfish Etouffee, Eastern Wild Turkey Lettuce Wraps and Italian Venison were just a few of the tasty dishes found at the Alabama Wildlife Federation Wild Game Cook-Off and Silent Auction last Saturday, May 7, 2016, at Civitan Park in Guntersville, Alabama! Close to 325 members and guests were in attendance as Spices Smokehouse including Robert Entrekin, Lynn Entrekin, Tee Rice and Kay Rice captured the top prize of “Best Overall,” with their scrumptious Caribbean Duck. Spices Smokehouse will be invited to the state finals held at Lanark in Millbrook in August 6, 2016 to compete for the title of AWF 2016 Wild Game Cook-Off State Champion.

While Spices Smokehouse won Best Overall, they certainly weren’t the only team serving up good food at the event. Other winners included:

Fish Division: First Place – Schlitz Creek Competitive Eating & Cooking Team including Keith Jenkins, Chad Whittington, Mitch Morgan and Larry Moore cooking Fired Louisiana Redfish topped with Crawfish Etouffee; Second Place – Chalk Branch Hunting Club including Bart Muse, Chuck Cobb, Donny Parmer and Craig Gillespie cooking Crappie Cakes; Third Place – Bama Girls including Amber Wynn cooking Blackened Surf.

Fowl Division: First Place – Spices Smokehouse including Robert Entrekin, Lynn Entrekin, Tee Rice and Kay Rice cooking Caribbean Duck; Second Place – Chalk Branch Hunting Club including Bart Muse, Chuck Cobb, Donny Parmer and Craig Gillespie cooking Eastern Wild Turkey Lettuce Wraps; Third Place – CFB #33 including Miller Opolka, Cole Nichols, Tim Nichols and Hayden Rungurang cooking El Goose Fajitas.

Game Division: First Place – Firelake including Bill Slavin, Scott Newton and Andy Davis cooking Italian Venison; Second Place – Schlitz Creek Competitive Eating & Cooking Team including Keith Jenkins, Chad Whittington, Mitch Morgan and Larry Moore cooking Venison Taco Soup; Third Place – Spices Smokehouse including Robert Entrekin, Lynn Entrekin, Tee Rice and Kay Rice cooking Wild Boar Quesadilla.

Potluck Division: First Place – Sweet B including Bethany Beasley cooking Venny Venison Stew.

Best Presentation Award went to Chalk Branch Hunting Club and Presentation Runner-Up Award went to Chonita’s Cookers.
