Skylar Lawrence Tillis, age 27 of Wadley, Alabama made passage into heaven on his terms, living as a free soul, a goal he had been reaching for his entire time here on earth. Skylar would not have wanted a formal funeral, and we ask respect for him and his family as we work through this difficult time according to his wishes. Please take comfort in the fact he still lives inside of our hearts and minds as he continues to show us the way to find him again on the other side. We encourage you to seek peace within as he truly did the last few months of his precious God given gift of life. For those who knew him, know deeply we have one of God’s strongest eternal warriors as a guardian angel. Protecting us, guiding us and showing us the way home. He was called home to fight for us because God needs him more there than we ever did here.

To know Skylar was to know that he was only truly happy when he was reaching for heaven; climbing trees, cranes, towers or mountains. He rode motorcycles since he could walk and, in all ways, enjoyed flying with the wind in his hair. Finding peace in nature with a remarkable connectedness few realize was his strongest talent. Skylar was a loyal son, brother and friend who loved others wholeheartedly and unconditionally. He will certainly be missed by many, especially those who understood his unique understanding of living freely and fully.

Skylar is survived by his father Bobby Tillis, mother, Darcie Miller, step father, Mark Miller, sister, Samantha Tillis and grandmother Susan Raymond.

In passing he is preceded by his maternal grandfather, Lawrence Raymond and paternal grandmother Gladys Tillis.

His legacy lives on through all of us. Please embrace it and “Live Like Skylar Tillis”.
