Six Arrested On Drug Charges In Decatur

DECATUR-On Tuesday, March 1 the Morgan County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant on 12th Street in Decatur arresting six suspects on varios drug charges.  The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office released a statement on the drug bust and arrests:

“On Tuesday, March 1, 2016, the Morgan County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at the residence located at 2214 12th St. SE in Decatur, Al. Agents, after a lengthy investigation, learned that Methamphetamine was being used and distributed by numerous persons frequenting the residence. Residence was considered to be a drug house and learned that 2 children were living within the residence. Agents made contact with numerous individuals within the residence, being: William Newsom (w/m 44), Jayna Newsom (w/f 30), Ashley Barbee (w/f 32), Dustin Ward (w/m 29), Michael Bailey (w/m 40) and Cody Davis (w/m 24). Agents seized Methamphetamine, Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia items within the residence as well as items associated in the Distribution/Sale of Illegal Drugs. Subjects were arrested on various charges ranging from Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance- Methamphetamine, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Loitering in a Drug House, Disorderly Conduct as well as Attempting to Elude.
Subject Ashley Barbee had 2 outstanding Felony Arrest Warrant’s and was currently out on bond for a previous arrest that occurred just 2 weeks earlier for the unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine.”


Morgan County DHR were on scene and placed the 2 children into the custody of a relative, pending further investigation.
William Newsom, Bond set at: $18,100.00, Jayna Newsom, Bond set at: $17,800.00, Ashley Barbee, Bond set at: $17,800.00, Dustin Ward, Bond set at $300.00, Michael Bailey, Bond set at: $900.00 and Cody Davis, Bond set at $2,800.00.
