MUSCLE SHOALS – It was a good day. Mayor David Bradford stood in front of the crowd that had assembled at the City Library. Bradford led the unveiling ceremony of the 2nd in the Series of statues commissioned to honor all of the music artists who placed this little corner of Alabama into the annals of music history.
Sculptor Audwin McGee, who fashioned the statue to be emblematic of all the great session players who labored here, admitted that his inspiration came from bass player David Hood. Hood, a recording artist and one of the owners of the fabled Muscle Shoals Sound Studio, was on hand to see the unveiling.
All in all, it simply a great day.
The Quad-Cities Daily was on hand to record the event in photos. We present the first of the here. More will be published shortly.
