FLORENCE-The Eta Rho Chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity is happy to announce our donation of seven thousand dollars to SafePlace. Our donation was made possible through our annual philanthropy event, “Derby Days.” Derby Days is a Sigma Chi tradition in which sororities on campus compete against each other to claim the rights as the Derby Days Champion, while also raising money to benefit our mission.
Safeplace is an organization in the Shoals Community that exemplifies the need for a support structure to the people who need it most. The organization and its employees are an example of how a caring group of people can make a difference in other’s lives while showing the utmost respect for anyone’s situation. It was an honor for the Sigma Chi Fraternity to exceed our goal for philanthropy and give back to an organization that gives so much more to the community and the people involved within the organization. We hope this donation can even further advance the special work that Safeplace provides.
Sigma Chi will be presented Rachel Hackworth, the Director of Safeplace with a check on Wednesday, April 25.
