Shooting In Decatur Sunday Night…Suspect In Jail

DECATUR-Decatur Police responded to a shooting in the 1100 block of Danville on Sunday, May 8:

“On May 8th, 2016 just after 7:30 pm the Morgan County E911 Center received a call of a shooting in the 1100 block of Danville Road Southwest. Officers with the Decatur Police Department’s Patrol Division, members of Decatur Fire and Rescue, as well as First Response Ambulance Service responded to the scene. Officers made contact with Marcus Wallace, who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Wallace was transported to Decatur Morgan Hospital and later transferred to Huntsville Hospital due to the severity of his injuries.
Detectives with the Decatur Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit were called to the scene to begin an investigation into the shooting. During the course of the investigation Wallace, as well as a female who was in the car with Wallace at the time of the shooting were able to positively identify the offender as Antonio Marques Lampkin. Lampkin had fled the scene before Officers arrived on scene and his whereabouts are unknown at this time. Warrants were obtained for Lampkin’s arrest for the charge of Assault in the 1st Degree as well as Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Vehicle. Morgan County Circuit Judge Jennifer set no bond on both of Lampkin’s warrants due to the fact he is currently out on bond for Robbery in the 1st Degree as well as Assault in the 2nd Degree.
Just after midnight, Officer Cahoon and Officer Southwood with the Decatur Police Department’s Patrol Division located the suspect vehicle parked behind his residence. Officers Cahoon and Southwood approached the house and were able to take Lampkin into custody without incident. He was transported to the Decatur City Jail and later transferred to the Morgan County Jail.”
