ln recent years the Shoals Labor Council celebrated our 100th Celebration of honoring working men and
women. Our largest turnout was in the 1980’s when President Jimmy Carter came and announce his bid
for the presidency. There was approximately 10-12,000 people in the park. We now do the parade
down Main Street in Tuscumbia but back in the day the parade started in Florence, came across ONeal
Bridge, through Sheffield, through Tuscumbia to Spring Park.

We are the longest running Labor Day celebration in the state and possibly in the country. The working people are America’s backbone, we celebrate them for all their hard work and sacrifices. The union members across our country fought for the weekend that all of us enjoy, the eight hour work day, better pay, healthcare, and many other
privileges in the work place.

Come out and celebrate with us. For more information please contact the Shoals Labor Council office Monday through Friday from 8:00 – 12:00.
