Shirley Whaley – Obituary

Mr. Shirley Whaley, age 75, of Sulligent, AL passed away Monday, January 13, 2014, in Generations of Vernon. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 17, 2014 at 11:00 am from Otts Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Gilmer Addition of Sulligent City Cemetery. Bro. Kelvin Price will officiate. Visitation will be at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6-8pm.

Mr. Shirley Whaley, better known as “Doc”, was born January 21, 1938 in Hamilton, MS to the late Lem and Delia Hanson Whaley. Doc worked and retired from Northington Snacks and after retirement from there he continued to working as a security guard. Doc was a member of Sulligent First Freewill Baptist church where he was actively involved as a Sunday School teacher and coached girls church league softball. In his spare time he enjoyed working on small motors.

Brother: Lee Wayne Whaley, Millport, AL
Grandchildren: Rod, Scott, Justin, Blake, Cody and Garrett Whaley & Andy Armstrong
