Shirley Ward Cobun of Huntsville passed away May 24, 2024. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Nativity for more than 65 years.
A native of Portsmouth, Virginia, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Camden Boyd Cobun; her parents, Frank George Cousins and Erma Ward Cousins; and her brother, Frank George Cousins Jr.
She is survived by her son, Camden Peter Cobun, and her daughter-in-law, Marcia Brittain Cobun.
A private graveside service will be held at Maple Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Michael Goldsmith, rector of the Episcopal Church of the Nativity, officiating.
Shirley was born May 28, 1922. She graduated from Cradock High School in Portsmouth. She and her family resided in LaPorte, Indiana, for 20 years before moving to Huntsville in the late 1950s.
The family is grateful for the dedicated staff of Hospice of North Alabama, and South Hampton Nursing Home in Hampton Cove for her long-term care; and for the clergy, staff and members of the Episcopal Church of the Nativity for their prayers, visits, love and support.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Church of the Nativity.
