Shirley “Shag” Dean Fields, age 90 of Knoxville, TN and Florence, AL, passed away on November 20, 2024. Service will be held private for family. Williams Funeral Home is assisting the family.
He was preceded by his parents, Hobart Lee and Pauline Boggess Fields and his sister Sybil Fields Bradley.
Shag is survived by his wife of 72 years, Mayvon Selbe Fields. Three children: Joe Eddie Fields (Marie), Paula Fields Dorsey (Joe), and Pamela Fields Leitzell (Mike). Five grandchildren: Jacob Fields, Joshua Fields, Heidi Bishop, Carly Dorsey, and Kelly Finch. And two great-grandchildren, Clara Bishop, age 7 and Harrison Bishop, age 10.
Shag was a graduate of Glenville State University. He was employed at Kaiser Aluminum in WV and OH for 38 years and retired as the Plant Manager of the Toledo factory. Shag then became an entrepreneur and co-founded Polypac Inc, and he remained chairman of that company until his death.
Mr. Fields was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, gardening, the West Virginia Mountaineers, the Tennessee Volunteers, and he loved Mayvon.
