Shirley Mozella Behel – Obituary

Shirley Mozella Behel, age 74, passed away July 19, 2017, at Florence Comprehensive Center. Shirley, affectionately known as “Tootie”, was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend to all. Shirley, a hard-worker, started out as a clerk at Mangels in downtown Florence and over the years worked at H.D. Lee’s and finally retired from Green Oaks Inn.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 22, at Mt. Zion Church of Christ officiated by Sonny Owens. Visitation will be from 10 until 11:30 a.m. The funeral will follow at 11:30 a.m. Shirley will be laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery next to her parents and generations of loved ones.

Survivors include her sisters, Mary Lou Parker, Eurma Thompson, and Eloise Valentine; special friends, Robert Thompson and Mallory Spurlock, who held a special place in her heart; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Lucinda Clark Behel; sisters, Rubye Haygood, Oveta Kimbrough, and Earline Balentine; and brothers, James, Cletus, and McKinley Behel.

Serving as pallbearers will be Robbie Thompson, Larry Olive, David Wilson, Davin Wilson, Davy Wilson, and Austin Wilson.

Honorary pallbearers are Junior Behel, Hollie Balentine, and Loyd Valentine.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Florence Comprehensive Care Center and to Amedisys Hospice for their loving care.
