Shirley Mae Hayes Rich, of Florence, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2025, at the age of 85. She was originally from Lutts, Tennessee and moved to Florence after marrying Harl G. Rich. They were married for 61 years until his passing in 2017. She was a member of Petersville Church of Christ and worked at Parisian. After retiring she did alterations from home for many happy customers. She loved to sew and work in her flowers. She worked hard at everything she did and enjoyed being a wife and raising five children, two grandchildren and one great grandson. She talked often of being raised on a farm and picking cotton with her parents and four sisters.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 16, 2025 from 2:30-3:30 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 3:30 in the funeral home chapel with Sonny Owens officiating. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Gerald Horne, Chris Griffin, Craig Lanphere, Evan Horne, Ethan Horne, and Austin Rich.
Mrs. Rich was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Lillie Hayes; husband, Harl G. Rich; daughter, Sandra Aytug; son, Terry G. Rich; granddaughter, Heather Taschner; grandson, Todd Rich; sisters, Adean, Mauvelene, Faye and Judy.
She is survived by her daughters, Renee Lanphere, Dawn Griffin, and Michele Horne; grandchildren, Tracy Handley, Carrie Hopkins, Britni Rich, Evan Horne, Ethan Horne, and Cash Griffin; and great grandchildren, Christian Handly, Peyton Handley, Grayson Handly, Kaylee Hopkins, Weston Hopkins, Grayson Horne, and Austin Rich.
