Shirley Jeanette Gault, age 88 of Monteagle, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Southern Tennessee Regional Medical Center. Shirley was the only child born to the late James Taylor and Minnie Lucille (Berryhill) Harris, on January 17, 1936. Shirley worked at Monterey Station in Cowan from 1987 until she retired in 1997. She enjoyed talking on the phone to her daughter, Jan, watching Heat of The Night and working various types of puzzles. Shirley was a strong will lady who was family originated. She would play board and card games with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. On rainy days, Shirley would watch Heat of The Night and spend time her four-legged best friend Lulu. She attended Tracy City Church of God of Prophecy when she was able. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Bob Gault; daughter, Victoria Casteel, son-in-law, Tim Griswold, grandsons, Sean Campbell and Dustin Curtis, and cousin, Marie Steele. Shirley is survived by her son, Cecil “Chris” Gault; daughter, Jan Griswold; grandchildren, Misty (Blake) Neilan, Jacob Gault, Amber Gault (Coby Rogers), Timmy (Suzanne) Griswold, April (Chirag) Chawla, Jennifer (Timmy) Thompson and Buffy Vaughn; great-grandchildren, Zoe Griswold, Lily Brown, Destiny Brown, Christopher Brown, Aubrey Vaughn, Thomas Vaughn, Chelsea Franklin, Kayla Franklin, Kayla (Sarah) Lindsey, Blade Lindsey, Devlin (Alexis) Lindsey, Syerah Burgess and Amelia Neilan; and great-great-grandchildren, Will and Asher. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2024, from 5:00pm – 8:00pm at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024, at 11:00am from the chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Scot Bradford officiating. Interment will follow in Cowan Montgomery Cemetery.
