Shirley Jean Joyner Bryant McCarthy passed away peacefully Monday, June 3 at Tupelo Nursing and Rehab after a lengthy illness. She was born November 5, 1944 in Prentiss County to Haston and Etheleen Arnold Joyner. Shirley loved the Lord and looked forward to her eternal home. She was a longtime member of West Jackson Street Baptist Church but attended Plantersville Baptist while she was a resident at Tupelo Rehab, Shirley was an accomplished seamstress working many years for Hunter-Sadler. Shirley enjoyed reading, laughing with friends and listening to music, especially Elvis.

Shirley is survived by her son Michael Bryant of Sherman, her sister Doris Crabb (Jimmy) of Baldwyn, her brother Jimmy Joyner (Peggy) of Saltillo, grandson Chris Bryant (Heather), granddaughter Bayle Bryant, great grandchildren Brayden Bryant & Allie Bryant all of Sherman. Nephew, Jamie Crabb (Tina), Nieces Ashley Finch (Ryan), Wendy Todd. She is also survived by her dearest friend Jackie Homan of Tupelo and her beloved cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Morris Bryant, husband Charles McCarthy and great nephew James Thomas Crabb.

A family graveside service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday at Lee Memorial Park with her sister-in-law, Peggy Joyner leading the service. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital or to ones favorite charity.
