Shirley Hearn Murchison, age 83 of Jackson, passed away on December 24, 2022 at home in Jackson.
Shirley was born on February 19, 1939 in Henderson, TN to the late Edd and Robbie Armour Hearn. She was educated in the Chester County Schools and Lambuth College where she received her degree in Elementary Education. She was united in marriage to Richard Murchison on July 10, 1965.
She taught at Malesus Elementary School for over 27 years, beginning in August 1965. She was a member of Lesters Chapel United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for over 20 years.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Richard Murchison; her children, Eddie Murchsion of Dallas, TX, Sheri Murchison Richardson (Allen) of Jackson, Mark Murchison of Jackson and Ronnie Murchison (Angela) of Bethel Springs; seven grandchildren, Amber Murchison, Chelsea Murchison, Payton Richardson, Zack Murchison, Connor Richardson, Maggie Richardson, and Benjamin Murchison; and her brother, Sherman Hearn (Cathy) of Jackson.
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 26, 2022 from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm at the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 pm with Dr. Joe Thornton officiating. Burial will be in Lester’s Chapel Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be Connor Richardson, Payton Richardson, Zachary Murchison, Christopher Hearn, Keith Hutchison, and David Pruitt.
