Shirley Gail Larkin, age 83 of Huntland, passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at St. Thomas West in Nashville. A native of Franklin County, she was born on July 16, 1939, to the late Roscoe and Johnnie Mae (McGriff) Sells. Before her retirement, she had worked at Amana, E & B Carpet, and Wagner, as well as two years at RCA in the Bahamas on a naval base. Shirley also co-owned her family’s nursery. In her spare time, she enjoyed dancing at the Franklin County Senior Citizen Center, working in her flower garden, reading, and cooking. She was a member of Beechgrove Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, James (Mary) Sells, Emogene (Junior) Farris, Bill Sells, Doris (Jesse) Sells, and Brooks (June) Sells; son-in-law, Ronnie Alonso; and brother-in-law, Robert Brandon. Shirley is survived by her loving children, Sheila Alonso, Sherry Goss, William “Bill” (Yvonne) Larkin, and George “Anthony” Larkin; grandchildren, Jeremy Gyurnek, Jason Gyurnek, Jennifer Martinez, Chris (Beth) Alonso, Derek (Chesleigh) Alonso, Dusty (Kelly) Alonso, Wendy (Troy) Hawkersmith; great-grandchildren, Jordan Gyurnek, Chloe Bradford, Callie and Cortland Alonso, Cheyann Satterfield, and Camden and Chase Alonso; sister, Bonnie Brandon; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 12-3pm on Sunday, March 26, 2023, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Bro.
