Shirley Faye Martin, age 76, of Cordova, passed away February 15, 2021. She is preceded in death by her parents, J.A. and Alcie Pendley; her daughter, Renita Cheryl Martin Bolton and her brother Cullen Pendley. Shirley is survived by her husband of 57 years, Norman A. Martin; son Danny Martin (Heidi); sister, Judy Busby; grandchildren, Kyle Bolton (Megan), Brittany Martin, Blakley Martin; two great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Tommy Bolton as well as a host of extended family, nieces, nephews and friends. Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of Dilworth Church of God. She and Norman were very active with the Youth Group and enjoyed teaching and providing meals for them on Wednesday nights. Shirley and Norman loved enjoyed traveling together. They took 15 cruises to destinations all over the world. Fishing and swimming on beach trips to the Gulf Coast, and camping trips were special times they shared with their grandchildren. Shirley studied Accounting at Bevill State Community College. She worked for and retired from Walker County District Court where she worked as a Court Specialist. Shirley was known lovingly as “Squirrely” by her friends and “Nana” by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Services for Shirley will be held at Friday, February 19, 2021 at New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation from 1-2pm with a Chapel Service beginning at 2pm. Burial will follow in New Horizon Memorial Gardens. Bro. Nelson Kimberly will officiate. The family would like to offer appreciation to both Comfort Care and Alacare Hospice for the wonderful treatment given to Shirley during her illness.
