Shirley Diane Hicks Mathis was born September 24, 1949 in Selmer, TN the daughter of James Hicks and Essie Moore Smith. She was united in marriage to Joe Mathis on May 16, 1986.
Shirley retired from Brown Shoe Company. She was a member of Central Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing, watching wrestling, and most of all spending time with family.
Mrs. Mathis departed this life on September 30, 2022 in Stantonville, Tennessee at the age of 73 Years, 6 Days.
She is survived by her husband Joe Mathis of Stantonville, TN; two daughters, Patricia Thompson and husband Bobby of Selmer, TN, Lisa Edmonds and husband Raymond of Hornsby, TN; a son, Ricky Crow of Stantonville, TN; her mother, Essie Moore Smith; seven sisters, Debra Cox and husband Wayne of Bethel Springs, TN, Linda Jarret and husband Teddy, Terrie Jo, Kathy Hadley, Carolyn Hicks, Lisa Hicks, Barbara Hicks; three brothers, James Smith, Jimmy Hicks, Jr. Hicks; ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, three great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her father, Mrs. Mathis was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Edward Crowe; a brother, James Norman Hicks; a sister, Debra Hicks.
