Shirley "Diane" Brock HarbinMrs. Shirley “Diane” Brock Harbin, of Arab, Alabama, passed away Monday, September 9, 2024 at her residence while surrounded by her family. Diane was born in Gadsden, AL September 12, 1946 daughter of Warner Harden Brock and Vivian Marthaleen Ellis Brock. Diane was a 1964 graduate of Arab High School. She furthered her education by earning her teaching credentials in 1968 from the University of Alabama. Soon after her graduation she married the love of her life, Danny Kenneth Harbin. She also began her professional career as a teacher with the Arab City School System. She taught 7th and 8th grade math and computer science at Arab Junior High School until she retired. Diane was an active member of Arab First Baptist Church.
Diane spent the majority of her leisure time with her family and enjoyed researching her family genealogy. She had an artistic side as well, which she used to paint beautiful bird houses and ceramics. Diane loved attending, learning and sharing with the Ladies Bible Study group at Arab First Baptist Church.
Diane leaves behind her loving family which includes her husband, Danny Harbin; daughters, Cassandra Harbin Terry (Jacob) and Melissa Danielle Johnson; grandchildren, Samuel Patrick Maze, David Andrew Maze (Karen); brothers, Rev. Glenn Edward Brock (Carol), Dr. Timothy Warner Brock and Mark DeWayne Brock; nieces, April Brock Scott (Dustin) and Jennifer Brock Broadus (Jason).
Diane’s family will receive friends and guest for a visitation time, Thursday, September 12, 2024 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 p.m. at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will be at the chapel on Friday, September 13, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. Dr. Paul Murphy will officiate. Burial will be in Brookwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made to the Lottie Moon and/or Annie Armstrong offerings at Arab First Baptist Church.
Arrangements entrusted to Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel.
