Shirley Ann (Spradley) Mitchell, 75, of Huntsville, Alabama passed peacefully from this life on Saturday, June 10th, 2023. She graced this world with her presence on November 27th, 1947, in Weirton, West Virginia, as one of three children born to the late Charles and Jeanette Spradley.
Shirley spent 54 years married to her husband, Brooks Simon Mitchell. Brooks and Shirley loved to ride motorcycles, camp, travel, and see as much of the United States as possible. They were welcomed among the camping community due to their hilarious and easy-going nature. She was an avid reader, gardener, fabulous friend, and crafter. She loved homemaking, ceramics, and cooking, especially for her legendary Christmas parties.
She was the most generous and loving soul that donated to the Salvation Army, animal shelters, the Sheriffs and local Police, and the Lakota Tribe. She was also the funniest prankster, she loved a good joke, and had a joyous, infectious laugh.
She leaves behind a loving family to continue walking down the path of life in her absence: husband, Brooks Mitchell; daughter, April Mitchell Garrett; grandchildren, Gabrielle Garrett (Chris Thomas) and Raine Hall (Ben Hall); as well as her great-grandchildren, Lilah and Brinley Hall. She was also fortunate to reconnect with her children from her previous marriage, Freddie Smith and Terrie Sullivan and their families before her passing.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Barbara Pierce and Carolyn Jones.
Her family will have a private service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to local animal shelters in Shirley’s name.
