Shirley Ann BumbaloughMrs. Shirley Ann Shook Bumbalough, age 88, of the Morgan City community of Lacey’s Spring, Alabama , passed away at her residence on Thursday, October 26, 2023. Shirley was born in Springfield, Ohio June 17, 1935, daughter of Lenard Shook and Helen Hall Shook. She was a loving and generous wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend and co-worker. She shared 66 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Malcolm E. Bumbalough. Together they created a beautiful family and built a lifetime of precious memories to cherish.
Shirley was employed by the Morgan County Board of Education. She happily served many years as the Union Hill School secretary. Even after her official retirement she could often be found donating her time at the school helping with the staff and students. She also enjoyed traveling and visiting new places. Reading was a favorite pastime and a day spent shopping was definitely not a chore. She was definitely an Auburn University fan.
Shirley is survived by her devoted husband, Malcolm; children, Lisa Terry, Dawn Dunaway (Kenny), Shawn Bumbalough, and Keri Fiocchi; grandchildren, Heath Selby, Cody Selby, Dustin Hale, Jared Hale, Joseph Fiocchi, Thomas Fiocchi and Michael Fiocchi; great grandchildren, Jonathan Hale, Juno Izabella Hale, Xavier Hale, Francis Johnston, Anna Johnston, Harmony Selby and Autumn Selby.
Preceding Shirley in death includes: parents, Lenard and Helen Shook; son, Miles Bumbalough; brother, Sonny Shook; and sister, Iva Shook Addy.
The family has elected cremation. A private memorial service is planned for later.
