Shirley Ann Phillips, age 89, died on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at Maplewood Healthcare of Jackson.
She was born in Metropolis, IL on April 17, 1932, the daughter of Ellis Daniel and Charlotte Grace Burton. Shirley was married to Bob Phillip who preceded her in death on September 17, 2014. She was a Registered Nurse with twenty-five years of dedicated service to the medical field. Her grandchildren were precious to her, and she enjoyed spending time with them. She also enjoyed reading and knitting. Shirley was a member of All Saints Anglican Church of Jackson.
She is survived by her daughter, Martha Stepp and her husband Dr. Bill Stepp of Jackson, a brother, Doug Burton and his wife Jo of Metropolis, IL; her sister, Charlotte Midnight and husband Bob of Metropolis, IL and two grandchildren Maggie Stepp Chastain and husband Cory of Memphis, TN and Houston Stepp of Jackson, TN.
SERVICES: A memorial service honoring her life will be held Friday, September 10, 2021, at 2:00 PM at All Saints Anglican Church of Jackson, with Rev. Wes Gristy officiating. Mrs. Phillips’s cremains will be placed in church columbarium.
