Mrs. Shirley Ann Jones Green, age 65, passed away into the arms of Jesus at her residence in Hampshire, on Sunday, November 23, 2014, while surrounded by her family and friends.
Shirley was born on November 24, 1948 to the late Riley Jones, Sr. and the late Mable Davis Jones in Columbia, Tennessee. She had attended Clark Training Academy and after retiring from Rhone-Poulenc and working at Union Carbide, she went into Home Health Care. She did this independently and gained clientele by word of mouth due to her excellent work ethic. She cared for several people who became her dear friends.
She served as a Sunday school teacher at Dry Fork Church of Christ. She loved horse-back riding and foot races. She was an avid wrestler and was treated as one of the guys. She loved playing soft ball and was well known for her skills in the bowling league with Rhone-Poulenc.
Shirley was a kind, sweet empathetic woman who never met a stranger. When she gave advice, she was so on point that it was like she read your mind to know exactly what you needed to hear. She not only was a Christian in Church, she spread the love of Christ everywhere she went. She loved flowers and being outside in her garden. She was known affectionately as the neighborhood mom. Anyone that came to her house was going to leave full and be treated like family.
