Shirleen Day WilliamsIt is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Shirleen Day Williams of Huntsville, AL, on December 4, 2023, at the age of 90.

Born in Haines City, FL, she moved to Huntsville only a year ago, leaving behind a lifetime of memories in her beloved hometown.

Shirleen, a stalwart of the banking industry, dedicated over 40 years of service before retiring from Nations Bank in 1995. Her professional journey was marked by commitment and excellence, earning her respect and admiration from colleagues and clients alike.

Beyond her professional achievements, Shirleen was known for her love of gardening, her culinary skills, and her passion for Gospel music. These simple pleasures brought joy not only to her life but also to those around her.

Her family was the cornerstone of her life. She is lovingly remembered by her son Richard, his wife Deborah, and her three cherished grandchildren, Carter, John, and Abbie, who were affectionately referred to as the “sunshine of her life.” Her loss is deeply felt by them, as she was not just a mother and grandmother but a beacon of love and strength.

Shirleen was predeceased by her parents, George and Polly Day; her sister, Margaret; her brother, Danny; her husband, Richard; and her cousin and best friend, June Wynn. Her life was a testament to her role as a caregiver, as she devoted much of her retirement to caring for her parents and husband in their final days.

In her last year, Shirleen moved to Huntsville to be under the loving care of her son, cherishing their time together. His dedication to her wellbeing in her final days will remain a comforting memory for the family.

Honoring her wishes, there will be no funeral services. Shirleen will be laid to rest in Haines City, alongside her husband and parents. A private memorial service will be held for immediate family members, celebrating her life and legacy.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Shirleen’s honor to the American Diabetes Association (https://diabetes.org/). This gesture would reflect her spirit of giving and compassion.

Shirleen Day Williams will be dearly missed and forever remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. Her legacy of love, care, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

Berryhill Funeral Home assisted the family.
