Sheryl Irons Smith, 55, of Tuscumbia, passed away Friday, June 28, 2024, at home, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. The visitation will be Friday, July 5, from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Terry Burns officiating. The interment will be at Shoals Memorial Gardens.
Sheryl was a native of Tuscumbia and a lifetime resident of the Shoals. She was a certified nursing assistant for over 35 years. Sheryl was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother and very active in their lives. She was a book enthusiast and loved writing poetry.
Sheryl was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lemuel and Dorothy Brown; brother, Vance Irons; and uncle, Johnny Brown.
She is survived by her son, Matt Smith and wife, Kristine; daughters, Kimberly Smith, and Haley Smith; mother, Jo Alice Irons; sisters, Lisa Irons, Bridget Irons, and Tina Jones; grandchildren, Khloe Reed, Charlotte Smith, and Liam Clark; aunt, Linda Wilkinson; cousin, Angie Maxwell; nephews, Dyllan Kimbrell and Blake Jones; niece, Holland Emmons and husband, Aaron; lifelong friend, Holly Zaragoza, and many, many more family, friends, and loved ones.
Pallbearers will be Evan Fleming, Blake Jones, Scott Emmons, Aaron Emmons, Mike Shaw, and Greg Smith.
The family expresses special thanks to Sheryl’s work family at Florence Nursing and Rehab and Helen Keller Hospital 4th Floor for taking such special care of their mom.
