Sherri Lynn Chapman McConnell went to be with her family in Heaven on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at her home in Decatur, Alabama. She passed peacefully in her sleep, age 69.
Sherri was a founding member of the Church of the Good Shepherd; a determined advocate for the ministries for the Episcopal Church, young people, and for equal rights for all. Sherri was born in Madison, Tennessee and grew up in Goodlettsville. She will be remembered by her family, husband, Gary McConnell; daughters, Jessie Thompson (Mike) and Hillary Cain (Michael); and grandchildren, Riley Thompson, Gavyn Thompson, Avion Jackson, and Hudson Cain.
She was preceded in death by her father, (Tommy G Chapman) and her mother, (Lenice Chapman); as well as her older brother, Tommy L Chapman; and younger sister, Mary Baggett.
She is survived by her husband, children, and younger brother, Martin Chapman.
Services will be at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 3809 Spring Ave SW, Decatur, AL 35603. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials to her name be sent to the Church of the Good Shepherd, 3809 Spring Ave SW, Decatur, AL 35603.
