Sherman Clay Staggs, age 67, passed away on the eve of his 68th birthday Saturday, March 5, 2022, in Columbia, Tennessee.
Sherman was born at home to the late Dellie Lucille Ragsdale Hughes on March 6, 1954, in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee.
If you knew Sherman, you knew Sherman. He never met a stranger. He worked at W.R. McClain Appliance repairing appliances for more than 20 years before starting his own business, Sherman’s Repair Service. Everyone knew who to call when they needed something fixed, and that’s how Sherman got to know many members of his community. After a long day’s work, he had a daily routine going to hang out at Dugger’s Auto Repair for Beer:30. He enjoyed hanging with the guys over a nice cold beer. He had a fun personality that will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, Sherman is preceded in death by Ernest William “Uncle Bub” Ragsdale, Grandmother Opal Pike Ragsdale, brother, Herman “Pete” Staggs, and best bud, Jerry “Jake” Holder.
He is survived by his three sons: Clay (Dana) Staggs, Justin (Asya Harrison) Staggs, and Jessie (Allyson) Staggs; grandchildren: Cale Staggs, Maddy Staggs, Cayden Staggs, Cole Staggs, Maybre Staggs, Brooklyne Staggs, Courtney Staggs, Kynslee Staggs, Cayley Crews, and Claire Staggs; “special daughters”: Misty Bue, Cody Jo Hyatt, and Tawny Jo Welch; and nieces and nephews: Daniel Staggs, Rachel Beech, and Ryan Staggs.
The family will receive friends and family at William Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
