Shelvie Carden Gay, 86, of Huntsville, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on September 18, 2024. Mrs. Gay was born on February 4, 1938, to Ernest and Gracie Carden in Alabama. She was a graduate of Butler High School and worked for the Army on Redstone Arsenal as a Procurement Analyst until she retired.
Survivors include son, Bobby Jack Gay, JR. (Kristi); daughter, Letitia Riley (Darrell); sister, Helen Kissel; brother, Billie Carden; grandchildren, Lexi McMahon (Ryan), Wesley Gay and Macy Riley; great-grandchildren, Darci McMahon and Luke McMahon; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Jack Gay, Sr.; sister, Clara Henson; and brother, Ernest Carden, Jr.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, September 22, 2024, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Maple Hill Cemetery.
Shelvie loved her family dearly and did everything for them. She was also a Christian who loved God and had accepted Christ as her Savior. She will be deeply missed but we have the promise of knowing we will be with her again.
