Shelia Maddox TuckerOur precious and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend; Shelia Maddox Tucker, 76, Russellville, AL, entered her eternal home on Tuesday morning, December 3 at NAMC after a short, but hard-fought, battle with amyloidosis. She loved the Lord and gave her life to Him at a young age; but she considered her family to be His greatest gift to her outside of salvation.

If you knew Shelia Tucker, then you also knew about her husband of 55 years, Joe, her miracle daughter, Melissa (Jamey), her immensely talented son, Mark (Leah) and no doubt, though you probably never met them, you were aware of all the talents, abilities and accomplishments of Tucker, Heather, Laney Beth, Joshua, Luke and Jojo – her grandchildren, the joys of her life and the “things” she hated the most to leave in this world. Shelia believed in, lived for, and bragged on her family always. From the beginning of their relationship and marriage, Shelia supported her husband in his career goals as a CPA and the eventual building of the very successful Joe M. Tucker, CPA, PC (JMT CPA) accounting firm where she spent the last 40+ years as secretary, accounting assistant, or “general flunky” as she often referred to herself. After the birth of their children, it was Shelia’s goal to provide support to Melissa and Mark in any and every activity they engaged in. From numerous leadership roles at Calvary Baptist Church, Girl Scout Leader, Tiger Mom, University of Alabama Parent Association Advisory Board…you name it and if her family was involved, Shelia (and Joe) was there and were active participants. In addition to church and children’s activities, Shelia was extremely active as a leader and member of a variety of civic and community organizations for many years including: Novela, the Booklovers Club, the Franklin County Arts and Humanities Council, and the Russellville Garden Club.

FAMILY meant more to Shelia than anything in this world. Holidays and time spent with family were her earthly treasures. She is now enjoying the greatest family reunion in Glory for eternity and though not with her husband and children she will experience the best Christmas EVER! “Where your treasure is there your heart will be also,” Matt. 6:21.

Mrs. Tucker is also survived by her loving siblings Sherry Maddox Price, Fayette, AL, and Steve (Teresa) Maddox, Florence, AL and a host of treasured nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 7, at Calvary Baptist Church, Russellville, AL with visitation from 12pm – 2pm and service immediately following at 2pm. Dr. Wade Wallace will officiate.

Pallbearers will be grandsons: Tucker Medlin, Joshua, Luke, and Joseph (Jojo) Tucker; and nephews: Bryce and Levi Bowling, Tyler Maddox and Chad Willis.

Honorary Pallbearers are special friends Robert (Bob) Seeley and Johnny Mack and Martha Morrow; along with members of the Florence State University (UNA) Striplin and Florence Hall College Group.

The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to Dr. Subir Paul, Dr. Patrick Daugherty, and Dr. Evans Kyei at North Alabama Medical Center, and Dr. Maurizio Zangari and Ms. Summer Krain, APRN at the University of Arkansas Medical Center for their thoughtful care and treatment over the past few months.
