Shelia  Kirkland BoswellShelia Kirkland Boswell, 53, passed away peacefully at the home of her sister, Debbie Lowe, on the morning of August 29, 2022.
Shelia Diane Kirkland was born at Anniston Memorial Hospital (RMC) on February 9, 1969 to the late Robert W. Kirkland and Nelda Sue Kirkland.
Shelia is survived and loved by her children Taylor Boswell of Dothan, Al. Ryan Boswell of Nashville, Tn., and Katey Boswell of Lynn Haven, Fl., and her sister Debbie Lowe of Anniston, Al. She is also survived and loved by many cousins and friends.
Shelia was a 1987 graduate of Oxford High School, a 1992 graduate of Jacksonville State University with her Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
She continued to pursue her academic stature with her Master’s Degree in Education from Trevecca Nazerene University in 2003.
Christ placed the passion of teaching in Shelia’s heart at a very early age and she dedicated her heart and life to that passion as it grew and blossomed into a selfless service that impacted many children throughout her 24 years of teaching.
Shelia began her teaching career in Miliani, Hawaii from 1994-1998 teaching Kindergarten and First grade. In 1998, Shelia moved to Clarksville, Tn and spent the next 13 years teaching Kindergarten at Northeast Elementary and Glenellen Elementary. Oxford City School system welcomed Shelia in 2011 and she served Oxford’s children for 7 years teaching Kindergarten, 3rd Grade, 5th Grade Science and Social Studies at DeArmanville Elementary and C.E. Hanna. Shelia’s life and her love for children was evident in her time given in molding the hearts and lives of all the children she had the blessing of teaching.
The family would like to thank everyone who encouraged us, supported us, prayed for us and loved us during our journey with our beloved Shelia.
A special thank you to Nurse Lisa Hope and the Amedisys Hospice group for the exceptional care Shelia received. We are also forever grateful to Naomi Sells for all the love shown and given.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 11:00am at Brookside Baptist Church of Oxford with pastor Chris Spurlin officiating. The family will be receiving friends for 1 hour prior to service.
