Shelby J. Sheets, 75 left for her heavenly home on Feb. 19, 2018 after fighting a lengthy battle with cancer.
She was born Feb. 9, 1943 in Haleyville AL. She lived in Taylor MI where she & husband Kenneth Mobley raised two daughters. She returned to live in Birmingham, AL until her retirement from Brookwood Medical Center. Upon retirement she lovingly cared for her parents in Moulton,AL until their passings.
In 2014 she moved to Denton, TX to spend the rest of her days closer to her children & grandchildren. Shelby is survived by her two daughters; Elizabeth Turnbow & husband Billy of Midland, TX and Suzy Adame of Little Elm, TX. Grandchildren: Amy Gardenhire & husband Jody Midland, TX; Justin Farris & wife Christi, Crane, TX; and Travis Turnbow of Midland, TX; Kaylen Adame Lubbock, TX; Michael, Gage, and Ambi Adame of Little Elm, TX; along with stepgrandchildren: Jamie Turnbow & wife Kendra Tyler, TX; Chris Turnbow & wife Crystal Tyler, TX and Shanna Cannon Tyler, TX. She has 8 Great-Grandaughters and 11 Great Grandsons; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Etheridge & Vera Dodd Tesseneer, along with stepfather, W.Travis Tesseneer; Brothers; Cranford Dodd, Bear Creek, AL; and Thurman Dodd; Muscle Shoals, AL.
Mom spent the last years of her life making every Grandchild feel like they were the “favorite”. She had a spirit that couldn’t be tamed; no matter where she was if a good tune came over a speaker you’d better step back to watch her boogie. It didn’t matter if it was Wal-Mart or Six Flags Over Texas. Her passion for cooking and feeding everyone could only be matched by her love of the Crimson Tide! Our family will always be grateful that Nick Saban and the Tide pulled it off this year while Mom watched from a hospital bed with her unwavering support and a “ROLL TIDE!” to any staff member who came into her room!
A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday, March 3, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in the Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel, Haleyville, Alabama. Memorial service at 11:00 a.m. with Vance Hutton officiating.
