Sheila Anne Slaten Crump, age 80, of Crossville, Alabama, entered into eternal rest on April 22, 2024. A Memorial Service to celebrate, give thanks for and remember her life will be held on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at 3:00 at her home church, New Canaan Baptist Church, 5486 County Road 23, Crossville, Alabama. The family will receive friends at 2:00.
Survivors include her two children, Gerald Philip Roberts (Angie) of Ohatchee, Alabama, and Joseph Parks Roberts of Crossville, Alabama, her step-children Jim Crump of Pell City, Alabama, Sharon Dover of Ohatchee, Alabama and Carla (Billy) Gaddy of Lincoln, Alabama; 11 grandchildren Jay Reaves (Nathan), Jean-Anne Cleveland, Jesse Roberts, Brandi Clevenger, Will Hicks, Whitney Hicks, Jordan (Jennifer) Gaddy, Joshua (Brittany) Gaddy, Jarrett (Neely) Dover, Chasity (Red) Holmes, Charlie Dover, and 6 great-grandchildren; Hendrix Cleveland, Emerson Hicks, Kelbe and Ayla Crook, Cassandra Gaddy and Sam Vienna.
Mrs. Crump was preceded in death by her husband of forty-three years, Carl R. Crump, her beloved daughter Anne Michelle Roberts Hicks, her granddaughters Hannah Hicks and Sonni Atchley. She was also preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Harvey C. Roberts, Jr. of Anniston.
Mrs. Crump was a native of Anniston, Alabama, and graduated from Anniston High School in l962, and was a long-time member of Parker Memorial Baptist Church in Anniston, where she was a member of the Robed Choir, Special Quartet, and the Handbell Choir. She also enjoyed acting and singing in performances with the Anniston Community Theater (The Sound of Music, Inherit the Wind, Kismet, and many other productions).
She will be remembered as an excellent typist, as she worked for fifty years as a Medical Transcriptionist for Noble Army and Anniston Memorial Hospitals, Regional Medical Center, The Surgical Clinic of Anniston, and in the office of the late Dr. Gaston O. McGinnis, as well as the Christian, Boozer, and Jenkins Architect firm.
In l996, Mrs. Crump and her late husband Carl relocated to Crossville, Alabama, where they enjoyed the serenity and beauty of their home and the peaceful ‘country life’. There, she was able to devote and profoundly enjoy many happy days working with her crafts. She was incredibly talented, skilled at very intricate sewing, painting, ceramic work, and story writing. She delighted gifting many of her crafts to family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be contributed to New Canaan Church’s Ministries.
