UPDATE: Earlier this afternoon (Friday, August 9) the Sheffield police department obtained an arrested warrant for Tawan De’Angelo Southern 23 years of age from Florence Alabama in connection with the shooting of Christopher Tyrone Fuqua age 27.
Mr. Southern was transferred from the city jail to the Colbert County jail and is being held without bond. This

incident is still being investigated by the Sheffield Police Department.

SHEFFIELD-On August 9th at around 2:30 am, the Sheffield Police Department was dispatched to Helen Keller Hospital regarding a gunshot victim.
Upon further investigation, it was determined that the actual shooting took place in the 200 Block of South Columbia Ave, at the Underground.
The shooting victim at Helen Keller Hospital later succumbed to his injuries. The Sheffield Police Department has a subject detained for questioning regarding the shooting.
That subject was also injured during the shooting. He was treated and released from Shoals Hospital.
