SHEFFIELD-The Sheffield chapter of the Kiwanis Club bestowed the Walter Zeller Fellow award to the widow of Wayne Springer who was a loyal member of the Kiwanis Club since 2001. The Walter Zeller Fellow is awarded to a member when $1250.00 is given to The Eliminate Project: Kiwanis eliminating maternal and neonatal tetanus.
Wayne was a big part of the Sheffield Kiwanis, he was the spearhead for many projects including the famous “Pancake Day”. Wayne was a hard worker for his community and showed his community spirit by volunteering for the many good works done by the Kiwanis. Wayne served as president of the Kiwanis from 2008 through 2009.
There was a full house on hand to see the award given to Pat Springer in Wayne’s honor. Pam Fleming gave Pat the medal and Rebecca Stutts Hovater pinned Ms. Springer. Along with Wayne Mike Kessler was also a recipient of the Walter Zeller Fellow award.
