was 69 years old. Momma was the kindest, most loving, and most generous soul.
She was well loved by her family and friends. She was a lifelong resident of
Piedmont, AL, where she worked several jobs throughout her life.
Sharon was preceded in death by several, but most notably her mother, Monteen
Phillips, from Piedmont, AL; (3) brothers: William Phillips from Piedmont, AL; Billy
(Joann) Phillips of Cedartown, GA; and Jerry (Mary) Phillips of Piedmont; her
niece Brenda Phillips of Piedmont, AL, with whom she shared a sisterly bond and
her brother-in-law Harley Newton of Birmingham, AL, who was a father figure to
her.
Sharon leaves behind a daughter, Sonya Anthony (Keith) Free of Centre, AL; her
stepdaughter, Tashana Moore of Seneca, SC; and a stepson, Brenton Thompson
(Destini) of Piedmont, AL. She also had six grandchildren, whom she completely
adored: Kalista Free of Scottsboro, AL; Clay Vaughn of Seneca, SC; Kaylie
Vaughn of Seneca, SC; Kaylor Free of Centre, AL; Raylynn Thompson of Centre,
AL; and Jacksyn Thompson of Piedmont, AL. As well as her siblings: Sue
(Wayne) Shaw of Hokes Bluff, AL; Catherine Newton of Piedmont, AL; Douglas
Phillips (Linda) of Birmingham, AL; Martha (Jerry) Owens of Weaver, AL; and
Mary Jo Phillips of Piedmont, AL.
Plus, she had many nieces and nephews, including Diane Rhinehart, with whom
she shared a sisterly bond.
My momma will be missed terribly on Earth, but they are rejoicing in heaven. She
will no longer be in pain or tears. She is lovingly embraced by her family and our
loving God, Jesus.
