Sharon Margaret Brokaw Tanner – Obituary

Ms. Sharon Margaret Brokaw Tanner passed into the arms of her Savior and friend, Jesus, on Sept. 15, 2015, while surrounded by her family and friends after fighting a five year, three month battle with GBM cancer.

Sharon was born Dec. 22, 1951, in Greenwood, Mississippi, to Bill and Peggy Brokaw but grew up in Tuscumbia, Alabama.

Sharon was a member at Curtis Baptist Church and taught at Curtis Baptist School for 20 years.

She is survived by her children, Logan Noel Tanner (Sara Charezaie), Tabitha Tanner Carro (Gabriel Carro), Nathan Tanner, and Bethany Tanner, and special friend, Chris Chiappetto. She is also survived by her sister, Shawn Nesbitt (Steve); nieces, Melissa Clark (Stuart) and Kimberly Hughston (Hal); great-nieces, Kate Clark and Lucy Hughston; nephew, Jackson Clark; mother-in-law, Joanne Tanner; and great-aunt, Margaret Garland.

A memorial service will be held at Curtis Baptist Church today at 4 p.m. EST with Reverend Sherrell Dunn officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. A graveside burial service will take place at Colbert Chapel in Tuscumbia, Alabama on Saturday, Sept. 19, at 11 a.m. CST with Brother Phillip Russell officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Brain Tumor Association or to Curtis Baptist School in Augusta, Georgia.
