Obituary of Sharon Elizabeth CottonSharon Elizabeth Fesmire Cotton, age 78, passed away May 8, 2023, at her home in the Malesus community with family at her side. A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Ebenezer Cemetery.

Sharon was born on February 18, 1945, in Jackson, Tennessee, to Ted and Virginia Fesmire. At a young age, she discovered her love for horses and the outdoors. She graduated from Jackson Central Merry High School and attended Union University. Sharon married her sweetheart Dewitt Dalton and spent many adventure-filled years in Port St. Joe, Florida, while making life-long friends. With plans to start a family, she and Dewitt returned to Tennessee in 1970.

Sharon was very strong in her Christian faith. She was blessed with many talents. She learned from her mother to be a seamstress. She discovered a passion for making quilts. She also took pride in being a “fiber artist” and focused on making dolls. Sharon traveled all over the country to learn from some of the most gifted people. She was an excellent cook, and she adored her family. Sharon always rode horses. She would pack her trailer quickly and be on a campground along with her best friends to camp for the weekend or simply trail-ride. She enjoyed kayaking and canoeing. She did it all with great love.

Sharon married Tony Cotton in February of 1998 and moved to Cadiz, Kentucky. She surrounded herself with the outdoors and enjoyed those years perfecting her craftsmanship. Over the years, she would return to Tennessee to love and care for her grandchildren who lovingly call her “Gaggy”.

Mrs. Cotton is survived by a daughter, Amy Dalton, and two sons, Ashley and his wife Heather Dalton, and Tim and his wife Hillary Dalton; five grandchildren, Will and Ty Buckley, Blaine Verdung, and Addelyn and Emmett Dalton. In addition to her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by a brother, John Fesmire.

A special thank you from Sharon’s family to Dr. Brian Walker and his team at Kirkland Cancer Center. Thank you to Gina and Katie for the loving care from Gentiva Hospice.

Memorials can be made to Kirkland Cancer Center, 720 W. Forest Ave., Jackson, Tennessee 38301.
