It is with immense sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our mother, Sharon Ann Teague, of New Bern, NC, on Saturday, June 29, 2024. Our beloved mother was reunited, in God’s loving arms, with our father Steven Dale Teague, her best friend, lifelong companion since 4th grade, and husband of 50 years until his passing in 2013. Amidst the overwhelming grief, our hearts are comforted to know they are together, and their union will continue to grow stronger in the Kingdom of God.

Sharon will be deeply missed by her surviving children; one son, Sean Steven Teague of New Bern; two daughters, Michelle Sanborn of New Bern and Patricia Teague Byrd and husband, Donald Byrd of Huntsville, AL; two loving granddaughters, Katie Sanborn, (Josh Stevenson) and Kelly Banton, (Johnathan Banton); four precious great-grandchildren who filled her heart so full of love, Owen and Hayden Banton, and Olivia and Avery Stevenson; son-in-law, Jeffrey Sanborn; and two sisters, Donna Stapleton, (Eddie) of VA and Patricia Duffy of FL. She also leaves behind her fur-babies, Chester, and Dusty as well as numerous grand-fur-babies who adored her and gave her comfort and joy. Sharon is also preceded in death by her parents, Edward, and Grace Smith.

Sharon was dedicated to her long career at MCX Cherry Point, while she simultaneously managed to care for and support her children for years during her husband’s many deployments to serve our country. Following her retirement, our mother aka Gramma Sharon devoted her entire existence to loving and caring for her family. She played an integral role as a caregiver, friend and mentor for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She cherished every moment she shared with them. She had a uniquely loving and special relationship with each of us.

Sharon loved many, was loved by many, and will be missed by many. Her heart and home were always open. She enjoyed large family gatherings and welcomed everyone. Upon entering her home, she made you feel loved. She filled your soul with laughter with her witty and infections sense of humor. She enjoyed cooking and it gave her joy to cook delicious meals for friends and family. Sharon was a compassionate, funny, generous, genuine, loving, nonjudgemental, open-hearted and selfless woman. She was an avid bird watcher. The Cardinal was her favorite bird. She now has her angelic wings, and she is watching over us from heaven as she did on Earth.

Momma, you were destined to be our mother and we in turn are destined to live our lives to the fullest and righteously in honor of you and dad for the rest of our existence in this world. It is going to be a lonely, and sad journey without you, but our spiritual connection will help to bring us peace until we meet in heaven.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
