Shanna Moore Ozbirn, 46, moved to her heavenly home Sunday, February 11, 2024 after suffering a fatal heart attack. She was born on December 2, 1977 at Red Bay Hospital to Kelly and Sally Moore. Shanna knew from an early age that she wanted to be an educator. She attended Northwest Shoals Community College and the University of North Alabama where she earned a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. Her goal was to return to her alma mater and work with the students of Red Bay Elementary School. Shanna taught kindergarten for several years before moving to the sixth grade. She loved her students and co-workers passionately and was always the first to volunteer to help. Shanna was a member of First Baptist Church, Red Bay but was presently worshipping at the Hamilton Methodist Church with her fiancé, Randy Sanderson.
Visitation will be Friday, February 16, 6-8 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay. The funeral will be held at Grace Methodist Church, 627 10th St. SE, Red Bay on Saturday, February 17 at 11 a.m. with visitation 10-11 a.m. Burial will be in Red Bay City Cemetery. Reverend Jeff Armbrester and Reverend Elliott Gordon will be officiating. Deaton Funeral Home will be assisting the family.
Left to mourn her passing are her daughters, Kyndell Ozbirn, Red Bay; Keylee Allison (Trevor), Russellville; fiancé, Randy Sanderson, Hamilton; mother, Sally Moore, Red Bay and her beloved grandson, Travis Kelly Allison, Russellville. She was known as “Blondie” to little Travis as well as all her friends’ children.
She was preceded in death by her father, Kelly Moore and grandparents, Richmond and Magdelene Moore and JP “Steve” and Patricia Stephens.
Pallbearers will be Brad Bolton, Bill Weatherford, Josh Hester, Dr. Ramey Shook, Torrey Lewey and Keith Kennedy.
Because of Shanna’s big heart and compassion for students, the family requests that in lieu of flowers or gifts, memorials be made to the Shanna’s Sunshine Closet Fund, c/o Red Bay School, 800 8th St SE, Red Bay, AL 35582. This will provide jackets, shoes and other necessary items for children in need throughout the school year. Shanna would be happy to know children were continuing to be loved and helped in this manner.
