Several Colleges Across The State Issued Evacuation Notices After Bomb Threats Received

ALABAMA-Investigations happening across the state due to a rash of bomb threats which are targeting Alabama college campuses. It has been reported by several of the colleges involved that no threats to any of the institutions has been deemed credible at this time.

This is an ongoing event as we get more information we will post it here.

In North Alabama the University of Alabama Huntsville, University Of North Alabama, Northwest-Shoals Community College both Muscle Shoals and Phil Campbell campuses, Calhoun Community College (2 campuses) issued evacuation notices.

In the Birmingham area Shelton State (2 campuses) and Jeff State Jefferson campus were evacuated.

In South Alabama Enterprise State, Lurleen B. Wallace (2 campuses) and Wallace Community College, Reid State Technical College were evacuated.

In Montgomery Auburn University’s main campus and Trenholm State Community College were targeted with threats.

In Mobile The University of South Alabama evacuated the Health Sciences Building after the bomb threat was received.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency has not commented on the bob threats across the state. The FBI s confirmed they are working with local law enforcement to investigate the threats.

Information on the bomb threat at NWSCC from the Muscle Shoals Police Department  The all clear has been issued for NWSCC  and classes will resume on Thursday, July 28:

Bomb Threat Investigation
On Wednesday, July 27, 2022 the Muscle Shoals Police Department was advised by the Florence Police Department that an unknown individual had called the Florence Police Department directly and stated there was a bomb in a backpack inside a classroom at Northwest Shoals Community College.
Muscle Police Department Officers and Command Staff arrived on scene along with Shoals Community College Security and a representative from the Florence Police Department’s EOD (Explosive Ordinance Disposal) Unit.
All school personnel and others on campus were evacuated while Officers investigated the threat. After a thorough search was conducted, the threat was determined to be unfounded and no bomb was located on campus.
This matter is still under investigation and the Muscle Shoals Police Department will be working with several other agencies in an effort to determine the origin of the bomb threat call. The Muscle Shoals Police Department has been advised of other Alabama Colleges across the state which have received a similar type threat on today’s date.
The person or persons making such calls should take under advisement the seriousness of this matter. Terrorist type threats will not be tolerated and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. If any member of the public has any information regarding a possible suspect(s) in this matter, please call the Muscle Shoals Police Department at 256-383-6746.

A spokesperson for the Alabama Community College System issued a statement:

“Authorities at Alabama’s community colleges are working closely with law enforcement on a state level and within each community to ensure the safety of residents across our facilities after alleged bomb threats were made at multiple institutions. While no threats have been deemed credible at this time, some buildings have – per protocol – been evacuated and access restricted to some campuses. Residents, including students, faculty and staff, are encouraged to not visit any of the colleges’ facilities until further notice by the colleges. Please stay tuned to your local news sources, as well.”
