Mrs. Sepal Marie Lance Scott Taylor, better known as ‘Ms. Goodie’, age 92, of McMinnville, TN, passed away on Thursday, September 05, 2024 at her residence. She was born on October 05, 1931 to Herman Lance and Stella Mae Hullett Lance. She was raised in Jacksboro & Centertown Community. She was married to Okley Scott on October 30, 1948 and he preceded her in death on January 02, 1977. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother Leon Tootin Lance, son Herman Ray Scott who died on September 14, 2003, and grandchild Okley Scott.
Sepal worked at McMinnville Garment Co. and Batesville Casket Factory, was a farmer, homemaker, and greatly enjoyed gardening and working with her flowers. She was a member of Ivy Bluff Church of Christ and was a lady who never met a person she didn’t like – Ms. Goodie never met a stranger neither. A special thanks goes out from the family to Adoration Home Health workers and administration, Mary Davis, Megan Bryan, and to the Lunches with Love at Ivy Bluff ladies who prepared meals and to Mary Sue Mitchell who always delivered Sepal’s meals.
Survivors include her daughter Shirley M. Scott Yates, son Joseph “Joe” (Karol) Scott, grandchildren Nikki Scott, Brittany Scott, Jesse Scott, Rachel Scott, Michael (Chanda) Yates, Paul Yates, and Rickey (Nikki) Yates, great grandchildren Marlie Scott, Summer Donahue, Emily Malone, Robbie Yates, Alex Yates, Kylee Yates, Brady Yates, Lane Yates, Grant Yates, and Talmon Scott, 4 great-great grandchildren, sister-in-law Rena Lance and several nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and neighbors.
A funeral service for Sepal will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, September 08, 2024 at the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Brian Reed will officiate. The family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. until the time of service at 3:00 P.M. at the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel.
