Senia Ahonen Womble, 95, passed away Jan. 4, 2016, at her residence after an extended illness. Senia was the last survivor of Jacob and Christene Ahonen who emigrated from Finland in 1906. She retired from TVA in 1983 after 38 years of service. She was a kind and loving mother, grandmother and spouse. She was loved by all. Senia gave her heart to the Lord in 1962. She was a faithful member of Underwood Baptist Church for 54 years and a choir member for 24 years.
Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Underwood Baptist Church. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Donnie McDaniel and the Rev. Jerry Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park.
Mrs. Womble was preceded in death by her grandsons, Jeff and Keith Yerbey; brothers, Enio and Bill Ahonen; sisters, Hulda Wharton and Alma Seppenan; and late husbands, Harvey Wesson and Andrew Wright.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Womble; children, Elaine Wesson Kelley (Kenneth) and Helen Wesson Smothers, all of Florence; stepchildren, Joel Womble, Jean Ann Blethen and Jane Penczak, all of Michigan; grandchildren, Tony Yerbey (Karyn), Missy Enlow (Randy), all of Alabama, Diann Kelley, of Louisiana, and Cindy Kelley, of Georgia; great-grandchildren, Amanda Allen, Andy, Tony and Johnny Yerbey, Amy Petty, and Sean and Sara Kilpatrick; great-great-grandchildren, Anna and Emma Allen and Heidi Petty; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
