Selita M. Long – Obituary

Selita M. Long, 72, passed peacefully Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her parents, J.D. Miller, Irene Miller Doak and Forrest Doak.

She is survived by her loving husband and best friend of 56 years, Bryce Long and children Lisa Quintis (David) of Las Cruces, N.M., Nicole Morris (Kevin) of Decatur, AL, Kenyon Smith (Scott) of Decatur, AL, granddaughters Caroline Elizabeth Keenum and Sarah Grace Smith of Decatur, AL, siblings Janice Taylor and Dan Miller, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Selita was born in Boaz on October 19, 1944 and was a 42 year breast cancer survivor and her warrior spirit imspired many other women. We were blessed to have her many more years than we thought and she is the strongest person we know. Her compassion was remarkable and drew many people to her.

Her brother-in-law, Rev. Carl Long will officiate the service at Shelton Funeral Home in Decatur.

The family will receive visitors Saturday October 29, 2016 from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm, with the memorial service to immediately follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any organization that supports breast cancer research or awareness or the the Liz Hurley Foundation.

We love you Mam-maw, fly strong and watch over us for life.
