FLORENCE-Breaking News Overnight: A domestic dispute leads to a standoff with armed man. At 10:00 pm last night, Florence Police Department responded to a domestic situation in the Twin Oaks community. The male, 58, was barricaded in his home with multiple weapons and was threatening to hurt his family and himself. Police negotiators and SWAT responded to the situation and evacuated several neighbors after the male barricaded himself inside. After negotiating with the man for over four hours the man exited his home and was taken into police custody shortly after 2:30 am. The male, who is not being identified, was taken to ECM hospital for evaluation. No family members or police were injured. This marks the second time in less than 24 hours that police have responded to, and negotiated with, an armed and barricaded suspect. The Florence Police Department would also like to thank the Alabama State Troopers for responding to assist our patrol officers in this case.
