Mr. Seburn B Hunt was born on May 19, 1931, to Clarence and Lucy Hunt in Arkadelphia, Alabama. He grew up in Arkadelphia with his seven siblings working on his family farm. At the age of 18, he accepted Christ as his Savior while at a tent revival. He remained a faithful servant to his Heavenly Father for the remainder of his life. At the age of 17, he met the love of his life – Evelyn. After dating a year, Seburn asked Evelyn to marry him in his true, nonchalant fashion – he stood on the side of a bridge and stated that if she didn’t say she would become his wife he would jump. They were married on June 4, 1949. Seburn was the proud father to four amazing children – Rick, Sharon, Randy, and Teresa. Throughout their childhood, he consistently made sacrifices to provide for their needs and doted on them constantly. Always an adventurer, he would take a wad of cash, put a rubber band in the middle, tell everyone to get in the car, and then would drive until half the wad of cash was finished. He loved exploring and his favorite trips were always to the mountains where he could see God’s amazing landscape. A truly devoted man, Seburn spent his life working at US Steel in Birmingham, Alabama. During his time living in Birmingham, he served as a deacon at Katherwood Baptist Church. After moving to Cullman, Seburn and his family attended East Side Baptist Church. Seburn served as a deacon at the church, sang in the choir, and assisted in helping with the youth group. He loved going on mission trips and helping lead Awanas. He built his strongest friendships with those he encountered through church and thought of each of those friends as family. Seburn was the grandfather to fourteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Always one to want to make his grandchildren happy, he was known to sneak food whenever any children were in the hospital, promised to build them all kinds of playhouses and treehouses, and deliver a joke during any circumstance. Seburn had a love for Auburn football and watched them play every weekend. He enjoyed watching their comeback season this year. His sense of humor carried him through the best and worst of seasons. Seburn was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Hunt; mother, Lucy Hunt; his brothers, Robert Hunt, Arley Hunt, Bobby Hunt, and Louis Hunt; his sisters, Renie Moore and Deanie Helton; and his beloved granddaughter, Sonya Hunt. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Evelyn; his brother, Jim (Mary Jo) Hunt; his sons, Rick (Laura) Hunt and Randy (Sandra) Hunt; his daughters, Sharon (Steve) Mattison and Teresa (Jock) Leonard; his grandchildren, Mark (Brandi) Mattison, Traci (Kevin) Wood, Valerie Mattison, Leslie (Hunter) Nelson, Jeffery Seburn (Alaynah) Hunt, Krista Ella (Matt) Kinsland, Drew (Brittney) Hunt, Cassie (Sherman) Caster, Kara Leonard, Elizabeth Hunt, Amanda Hunt, Addie Hunt, and Ben Hunt; and his great-grandchildren, Gaven Mattison, Colby Mattison, Elayna Mattison, Graham Wood, Lydia Wood, Fisher Wood, Emily Kay Fales, Ada Fales, Evan Fales, Hayden Mattison, Josiah Jace Caster, Anne Sims Nelson, and David Seburn Nelson. Visitation to meet with family and friends will be held at East Side Baptist Church in Cullman, Alabama, on Saturday, November 12, 2016, at 12:30 p.m. Funeral to follow at 2 p.m.
